Why is My Site Not Approved for Google AdSense?

Launching a content-focused website, you will want to monetize quickly using services like Google AdSense. For those unfamiliar, you can place ads throughout your website, and when a user clicks on the ad, you receive revenue.

For many creators, this is the first introduction to monetizing their content. So, let’s answer the question: why is my site not approved for Google AdSense?

AdSense is hard to get approved for

You used to be able to start making money as soon as you placed the code on your site. Due to the number of spam sites, Google has made it more challenging to get your site approved. They made this change when they introduced new rules for monetizing YouTube videos.

We use the WordPress plugin, Site Kit to connect all of the Google services to our website, including AdSense. It makes the process very easy, but a separate team needs to review each site you add to your AdSense account.

Read the AdSense Publisher Guidelines

Your site is usually not approved due to not meeting the AdSense Publisher guidelines or your website does not have enough content for approval. Your content must be unique and well-written; a general approach is to write 800-1000 words, but that advice is not from Google.

Focus on publishing content consistently

Our advice is to focus on creating high-quality content consistently and building your audience before starting an AdSense account and getting your site approved. Publish new content regularly; ensure it is written for your target audience and helps them with a problem or answer a question.

Publish new content consistently for at least six months before considering opening up an AdSense account and adding your site for review. Make sure you are building an audience and traffic to the site increases.

Look for frequently asked questions within your niche and answer them from your experiences – as we said, do not plagiarize content; make sure it’s unique.

Make your website user-friendly

Using a caching plugin like WP Rocket will help ensure that your pages load fast, as that could be a factor in why your site is not approved.

Also, ensure that your website is easy to navigate and has a good user experience. Making sure it is mobile-friendly will also help when applying for Google AdSense. Avoid deceptive practices that force your visitors to click ads.

The niche you create content on will determine if Google will accept your website. Read through the AdSense guidelines on the types of sites not accepted into the advertising program.

Receive support from the community forum

While you might not receive direct communication from the AdSense team at Google, there is a convenient community forum where you can ask questions, and people will usually respond.

The forum might be an excellent place to learn why your site is not getting approved, especially if it has been live for a while and has a lot of good-quality content. The Help Centre is a fantastic resource of frequently asked questions and helpful content that might help you.

Our strategy is to focus on building an audience

After getting rejected for Google AdSense ourselves, we decided to focus on publishing new content every week, and after six months or when we have built a reasonably sized audience, we will apply again.

It can certainly be frustrating, but when starting as a content creator, focus on publishing new posts and helping your audience.
