Why We Love Skillshare to Learn New Skills as Content Creators
As a content creator, you realize quickly that you need to be multi-skilled when attempting to make an income from your passions.
Not only do you need to know how to create content and build an audience, but you also need to learn many other skills like Search Engine Optimization and Social Media marketing.
For those that do not know, Skillshare is a subscription service where you can learn an array of skills in your own time at your own pace.
Sat on a train for 2 hours, spend that time wisely by learning a new skill from an experienced teacher.
Also, as a content creator, you can create your own courses, teach your passion and make money; how cool is that? Let’s dig a little deeper into why we love Skillshare to learn new skills as content creators.
Why Skillshare over other course providers?
Rather than pay for each course, you want to take, Skillshare charges an annual subscription fee, and you get access to all of the fantastic classes.
If you work with a small team like here at Creator Trail, you can sign up for their team packages and ensure everyone gets access to the courses.
Skillshare seems to have focused its courses on skills you need as a creator, whereas other online course sites focus on every topic under the sun. They are also more strict on who can teach on their platform to ensure only well-designed courses are hosted there for subscribers.
You can find courses on creative writing, business, film and animation, to name a few topics, in the library.
In fact, check out this long list of subjects that you can learn on Skillshare. There’s something for every content creator.
What we love about Skillshare
Most of the courses are a series of short videos teaching you a particular topic with an end goal in mind. They are not courses that will take you weeks to complete. Scroll through the lessons, and you will find that the average amount of time is 1-2 hours of video content with some reading.
Currently, the team is taking a course on copywriting for beginners by Jesse Forrest, and it’s split into 17 videos, lasting just over 1 hour.
You can spend a day learning a new skill and then put what you have learnt into practice. This makes learning more manageable with bite-sized content rather than a full-on course that takes weeks to complete.
How Skillshare works
You will be asked to identify your interests when you pay the annual subscription fee. These are the skillsets you want to focus on.
Our advice is to choose one or two, so you do not feel overwhelmed due to the number of courses available.
Skillshare will then recommend 3 classes to start from. We don’t want to mention prices in this article since they can change, but in our opinion, it is affordable for all content creators.
